1. Agreement and eligibility
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) apply to dog owners and other customers who create an account or request pet-care services from K-Walks LLC (“K-Walks,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating a customer account, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. Dog walkers are subject to a separate Walker Agreement; the account, privacy, conduct, and acceptance sections of these Terms also apply to every account holder.
2. Account information
- Provide accurate and current contact, pet, veterinary, emergency-contact, and property-access information.
- Protect your password and promptly notify K-Walks if you suspect unauthorized account access.
- Update information that becomes inaccurate or incomplete.
- Do not impersonate another person, submit false information, or allow unauthorized use of your account.
3. Pet and property information
You must provide complete and current information reasonably needed to care for your pet safely, including:
- Age, breed, approximate weight, health, allergies, medications, injuries, illnesses, and mobility limitations.
- Behavioral concerns such as aggression, biting, resource guarding, reactivity, anxiety, or escape behavior.
- Veterinarian details and feeding, walking, bathroom, and other care instructions.
- Safe and accurate property-access instructions and any condition that could affect the visit.
Update this information before a visit whenever your pet’s health, behavior, routine, or living situation changes.
4. Care requests and confirmation
- Submitting a care request does not guarantee service or availability.
- A request becomes a confirmed appointment only after an authorized K-Walks caregiver accepts it.
- A proposed replacement time becomes the confirmed time only when you accept it in your account or K-Walks confirms it on your behalf; declining a proposed time cancels the visit without a fee. A caregiver may withdraw a proposed time before you answer, in which case the visit keeps its original time.
- The appointment information shown in your account is the official scheduling record.
- K-Walks may decline a request when no qualified caregiver is available or the requested service cannot be performed safely.
5. Prices and payment
- The price of each service is shown when you request care and again on your invoice. The price in effect when you submit a request is the price for that visit, unless you later approve a different service.
- K-Walks does not process payments through this website and does not store card or bank details. After a completed visit, K-Walks emails you a private care report and an invoice.
- Invoices are due within seven (7) days of the invoice date and are payable by Zelle.
- An invoice may also carry a late-cancellation fee or no-show fee from an earlier visit (see sections 6 and 7). Each such fee is listed separately on the invoice.
- Tell us promptly if you believe an invoice is wrong. K-Walks may pause new bookings while an invoice is more than fourteen (14) days overdue.
6. Customer cancellations
You may cancel an upcoming visit at any time before its scheduled start from the visit page in your account. Notice is measured from the visit's scheduled start time using the time recorded by the K-Walks website.
- At least 24 hours' notice: no fee.
- Less than 24 hours' notice for a confirmed visit with an assigned caregiver: the cancellation is recorded as late, your caregiver is notified immediately, and a late-cancellation fee of $15 may be added to your next invoice. Your caregiver or K-Walks decides whether to apply the fee (see section 7).
- No-show or inaccessible pet: if a confirmed visit is not canceled and the caregiver cannot safely reach your pet or property at the scheduled time, the visit is recorded as a no-show and a fee of $15 may be added to your next invoice.
- Cancelling a request that has not yet been confirmed by a caregiver, or a visit whose new time is still being proposed, carries no fee.
- A cancellation submitted exactly 24 hours before the scheduled start counts as full notice.
- Each visit in a multi-day or recurring booking is treated separately: one fee applies per visit, not per pet.
7. Fee decisions, emergencies, and exceptions
The assigned caregiver or K-Walks reviews every late cancellation and no-show before a fee is charged and may waive it, for example for a documented emergency, severe weather, a veterinary emergency, or another exceptional circumstance. Waivers are considered reasonably and in good faith but are not guaranteed. A fee that is applied appears as its own line on your next invoice, and a fee already invoiced is not changed afterwards. Contact us as soon as reasonably possible if you believe a fee should be waived.
8. Cancellations and changes by K-Walks
If K-Walks or your assigned caregiver cancels a visit, no fee applies and nothing is invoiced for that visit. If your caregiver or K-Walks proposes a different time, you may accept it in your account, in which case the visit is confirmed at the new time, or decline it, in which case the visit is canceled without a fee and you may request care again for a time that suits you. K-Walks may also confirm a proposed time or restore the original time on your behalf when needed to keep your care scheduled. We make a reasonable effort to offer a replacement caregiver or time, but availability is not guaranteed.
If your assigned caregiver can no longer cover a visit, they may release it, but only while the visit is at least 24 hours away. The visit keeps its scheduled time, shows in your account as awaiting a caregiver, and K-Walks makes a reasonable effort to assign another caregiver. While no caregiver is assigned you may cancel the visit at any time without a fee.
9. Rescheduling
- You may request a new time for an upcoming visit from the visit page in your account when the visit is at least 24 hours away, and the new time must also be at least 24 hours away. If a caregiver is already assigned, the visit keeps its current time until that caregiver or K-Walks approves the change; the change may be declined when the caregiver is unavailable at the new time or it cannot be served safely. If no caregiver has been assigned yet, the new time takes effect as soon as you submit it. A request still waiting when your caregiver releases the visit takes effect automatically if the new time is still at least 24 hours away; otherwise it is set aside and you may request again.
- Less than 24 hours before a visit, the time can no longer be changed; you may cancel the visit (which is treated as a late cancellation under section 6) and request a new one.
- Accepting a time proposed by your caregiver or K-Walks confirms the visit at that time; declining it cancels the visit without a fee (section 8).
- You may also ask to switch an upcoming visit to a different service, alone or together with a new time, under the same 24-hour rule. A walk may be switched only to another walk; pet sitting keeps its service but may change its time. If a caregiver is already assigned, the visit keeps its current service until that caregiver or K-Walks approves the change; if no caregiver has been assigned yet, the switch takes effect as soon as you submit it. A switch takes the new service's duration and is charged at that service's price in effect when the change is applied.
10. Customer responsibilities before care
- Provide safe property access and secure animals not included in the appointment when necessary.
- Supply a secure collar, harness, leash, carrier, food, medication, waste bags, and other agreed materials.
- Disclose alarms, cameras, access restrictions, hazards, and other conditions that may affect the visit.
- Ensure all instructions are lawful, reasonable, and safe.
K-Walks is not responsible for delays or incomplete service caused by inaccurate access instructions, unavailable supplies, undisclosed risks, or conditions outside the caregiver’s reasonable control.
11. Caregiver responsibilities
K-Walks caregivers are expected to:
- Treat animals humanely and respectfully and follow reasonable care instructions.
- Use reasonable care while handling pets and entering customer property.
- Protect confidential customer, property, and pet information.
- Promptly report significant incidents, injuries, illnesses, or property concerns.
- Provide the agreed visit information when reasonably possible.
12. Safety and service modification
A caregiver may delay, shorten, modify, or end a visit when reasonably necessary because of:
- Aggressive or dangerous animal behavior.
- Severe weather, extreme temperatures, smoke, ice, lightning, or unsafe walking conditions.
- Illness or injury affecting the pet or caregiver.
- Unsafe property conditions, unsuitable equipment, unlawful instructions, or another immediate threat.
When practical, the caregiver will notify you and offer an appropriate alternative such as shortened, indoor, or rescheduled care.
13. Veterinary and medical emergencies
- You authorize K-Walks to contact your veterinarian, emergency contact, or an emergency veterinary provider when urgent assistance reasonably appears necessary.
- We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before non-routine treatment when circumstances permit.
- If delay could endanger the pet, K-Walks may seek necessary emergency assistance before receiving a response.
- You remain responsible for veterinary, transportation, medication, and related expenses for your pet.
- K-Walks does not provide veterinary services or medical diagnoses.
14. Photos and visit reports
With your authorization, caregivers may create private pet photos, notes, bathroom and care updates, visit timing, and summaries. This information may be viewed by you, the assigned caregiver, and authorized K-Walks administrators. Public advertising or social-media use of identifiable pet or property photos requires separate permission, which you may withdraw for future use.
15. Privacy and account security
K-Walks handles customer, pet, access, photo, and visit information as described in our Privacy Statement. You may not attempt to access another user’s account or restricted information.
16. Acceptable conduct
You may not use K-Walks to:
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against, or abuse a caregiver or another user.
- Request unsafe, illegal, or inhumane treatment.
- Submit fraudulent bookings, invoice disputes, or account information.
- Circumvent account, scheduling, invoicing, privacy, or security controls.
- Misuse private photographs, messages, schedules, or visit information.
- Arrange off-platform services to evade disclosed K-Walks policies or charges.
17. Service limitations and responsibility
- K-Walks will use reasonable care but cannot guarantee a particular bathroom result, behavior, or outcome outside the caregiver’s reasonable control.
- Animals may behave unpredictably even when their history has been accurately disclosed.
- You are responsible for foreseeable harm or additional expense caused by knowingly withholding important health, behavioral, access, or safety information.
- K-Walks remains responsible to the extent required by law for harm caused by its failure to use reasonable care.
- Nothing in these Terms limits a consumer right or legal remedy that cannot lawfully be waived.
18. Concerns and disputes
Contact K-Walks promptly about an incorrect service, charge, or incident. When practical, report concerns within seven days so we can review relevant information; this period does not eliminate rights that cannot be waived. You and K-Walks agree to make a reasonable, good-faith effort to resolve concerns directly before formal proceedings.
19. Account suspension or termination
K-Walks may restrict, suspend, or close an account for nonpayment, fraud, repeated no-shows, materially false information, dangerous conditions, harassment, animal mistreatment, unauthorized access, or serious or repeated violations of these Terms. When circumstances permit, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to correct the problem. Immediate action may be taken to protect a person, animal, property, or account.
20. Changes to these Terms
- Material changes will be communicated before they apply to future bookings.
- Updated terms will not retroactively change an already confirmed appointment unless required by law or accepted by you.
- Your account records the version and time of your acceptance, and you will be asked to accept a new version before your portal opens.
- The effective date and version appear at the top of this page.
21. Electronic communications and acceptance
You agree that K-Walks may provide account, booking, policy, and service communications electronically. Electronic acceptance of these Terms has the same effect as a written signature. You may save or print a copy for your records.
22. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules and without limiting consumer protections that must apply in your jurisdiction.
